Born in rural Bengal and rising to global scientific prominence, Dr. Mani Lal Bhaumik is a world-renowned physicist, laser scientist, author, and philanthropist. His breakthrough research contributed to the development of the **excimer laser technology**, which later became the foundation for **laser eye surgery (LASIK)** — restoring vision for millions worldwide.

Beyond science, Dr. Bhaumik dedicated his life to promoting higher learning, scientific curiosity, and humanitarian values. His books, lectures, and philanthropic work reflect his belief that knowledge must serve humanity, reduce suffering, and uplift generations.
